Before we were engaged, I was planning to surprise Wes in Galveston, Texas while he was there for a month for his work.  In the meantime, he was also planning on coming home a week early and surprising me. Luckily, his dad knew both stories, so he had to tell Wes I was coming. He had the ring back at home and was planning to propose when he returned home, but his plans had to change. On our last night in Galveston together, we were walking on the beach and he kept walking and walking until we were almost in someone's yard, so I knew something was up. He then got on one knee and proposed to me with a $0.99 seashell ring...I just thought he didn't have the money to buy a real ring yet, so I said yes to the seashell ring happy as could be. Later I found out the real ring was back at home! For the theme of my wedding I wanted a 'winter wonderland'. We had lots of silver and white tree branches with ice blue bridesmaid dresses. With our wedding on New Year's Eve, we went for the romantic, but fun feel. It was unusual weather for New Year's Eve - warm and rainy, we didn't even need coats! We unexpectedly got pictures outside with umbrellas, because of rain rather than snow. I loved our ceremony. Our catholic church was decorated beautifully for the Christmas holiday and we had a pianist and singer which added the perfect touch. After the ceremony, we had an amazingly decorated cocktail hour at the Hilton Garden Inn (this was the room everyone talked about the most) with big trees at the entrance. We also had a 'blue drink' for our Signature Cocktail (which was also talked about a lot!) that was poured through an ice luge. The dance floor was packed the entire night and we counted down at midnight! Wes and I had an outfit change around 11:00 to bring in the new year. It was a perfect day!
My best advice for brides is don't stress the small stuff. Try to have fun planning each part of your wedding, and make the ceremony special - that's what really matters. Once the wedding day comes, ENJOY it! It goes by so fast!
Morgan and Wes are celebrating their 9th wedding anniversary with their beautiful daughters Lucy and Ellie!
