When the weather starts to turn chilly, and we think back at all our favorite Fall Weddings from years past, we always remember the gorgeous barn wedding of Cat and Brent Stierwalt at
Chanteclaire Farms in Maryland.
Here's a little trip down memory lane with one of our favorite couples, and a re-do of their wedding story originally posted following their wedding in 2012.
When Catherine Brunson and Brent Stierwalt met at Virginia Tech in 2007 they never imagined their similar career choices would be a unique accent of their September 2012 wedding.
What does your wedding say about you?
Cat and Brent are both in the mining industry. When they got engaged Cat's mom suggested the wedding colors being white representing Cat's career in a salt mine, and black for the coal mine where Brent worked.
The thumbprint trees were a special memento created by the guests. Cat said they were special because they were Aspens, and the newlyweds have recently relocated to Colorado.
When talking about the personal details of the wedding, Cat described how mining played a part in the table numbers and favors. Brass tags, like those used in underground mining, were stamped with words and their wedding date. The keepsakes included the words; Dream, Hope, Love, Celebrate and Pray.
Can you have a sense of humor at your wedding? These newlyweds sure can! A prearranged joke between Cat and best man was the self described funniest moment of the day. "I had planned for the best man, Brent's brother Tony to "forget" the rings. The look on Brent's face was priceless. Bill, Brent's father had them the whole time, which he quickly threw to Tony after a couple of seconds."
Have marital advice for the Bride and Groom? Cat and Brent had the guests leave notes of advice in mason jars marked-Honeymoon, 1st Anniversary, 10th Anniversary, 25th Anniversary, and 50th Anniversary. (edit: I wonder if anyone had any advice for their 3rd year Anniversary?)
All of the little touches throughout the ceremony and reception tell the story of this amazing, funny and family oriented couple. From Brent's Grandmother's hanky to the photographers capturing of the individual families joining together. This lovely fall wedding was "truly an amazing day" according to the Bride.
Cat and Brent shared many beautiful moments with their friends and family on this very special day. Not to mention truly sharing the essence of themselves. They captured aspects of their careers, their sense of humor, their past and their future. So what does your wedding say about you?
