Michelle's Bridal and Tuxedo wants to wish a Happy 1 year Anniversary to Kregg and Kerri Steelman-Schmidt! We hope this first year has continued to be filled with more of the best days of your lives. One year ago today: Garden City, Kansas was the site of Kregg Schmidt and Kerri Steelman's rustic chic wedding and barn reception on May 24, 2014. After months of planning this couple said their big day was everything they had hoped for and more. "Everyone always said that my wedding would the best day of my life. I wasnt just skeptical, I KNEW they were wrong. Better than a Steelman Christmas? Naw Better than Girl Scout Camp? Not possible Better than college? No way But I was absolutely positive that a day this structured and seemingly stressful could not be better than our quiet road trips or drinking boxed wine, watching our shows before bed Now I get it." So how do you accomplish the best day of your life? With a little luck and a lot of support from friends and family! KK_collage_6 It all started with the preparations which took place months ahead of the wedding. Kerri lives in Kansas, but traveled to Grand Rapids, MI to shop for her gown with family. "The day I went dress shopping with my sisters, I was completely overwhelmed at the thought of all the dresses we would see. How would I ever choose!?" KK_collage_8 "Before we even left, Melissa Guidas, the Wedding Whisperer", from Michelles Bridal and Tuxedo pulled out her phone and showed me a picture saying, this is kind of what I envisioned for you! I LOVED it! Honestly, If it were up to me, we wouldnt have even gone dress shopping, but my mother and sisters insisted! After HOURS of trying on dresses in different locations, my heart was still set on the dress from the picture. Melissa put in the order and Michelles Bridal and Tuxedo was amazing about sizing and shipping! I could not have been happier with my dress!" KK_collage_9 Many past Brides have attributed their wedding day successes to the help of top notch vendors. Kerri and Kregg's day was no different. From the early morning mimosas with the hairdressers, to the last minute dress alterations, flower arranging and snake wrangling, "Kregg and I were so lucky to have such incredible luck with vendors." Special cudos to Photographer Jennifer Bailey from Memories by Jen Bailey. "She created our wedding timeline, kept our wedding party on task (not easy!), gave fantastic direction with posing, and created masterpieces from the silly wedding photo ideas I had!  We were blown away by the final photographs and the special animated slideshow with music she made us to share with family and friends." KK_collage_redo Another topping the list of vendors who helped to make the day perfect were Angela and Paige at Layla, Lucy & Co., the barn venue just outside of Garden City, KS where the reception was held. "When I saw the restored barns overlooking the beautiful fields of Kansas, I knew our wedding reception had to be at Layla, Lucy & Cos property. Angela and Paige go above and beyond to make the wedding day special and flawless! They did anything that was needed, whether it be refilling ice, replacing drinks, or even driving over an hour to pick up the wedding cake and bring it to the reception when our cake deliverer became unavailable the morning of the wedding!" KK_collage_5 The barn venue even offered an outdoor fire pit which paired perfectly with Kerri's love of s'mores! The relaxed outdoor space coupled with the beautiful Kansas sunset made it perfect night for dancing, enjoying the warm May weather, and celebrating the best day of your life. KK_collage_2 Kerri said that her favorite part of the day was dancing at the reception. "I know that is not a typical bride answer, but that is the truth! By the time the dance started, the wedding day stress and nerves were completely gone and I could just enjoy my new husband, family and friends..." KK_collage_10 "On our wedding day, we shared a special bond, but it was way more than ceremony, traditions, and vows. I have never felt more humbled or grateful. Our families worked insane hours making gift bags, centerpieces, my dress and boots and our party favors BY HAND. Friends came in from Michigan, Indiana, California, Alaska, DC- EVERYWHERE just to celebrate one night with us friends I havent seen in years and years. And now Im crying It was like Steelman Christmas, Girl Scout Camp, college, road trips, and TV wine nights combined." "We can never say thank you enough, but heres a start: To all of our family and friends- those who could make it, and those who were there in spirit- thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We love you and hope we can be the family, friends and support to all of you that you have been to us."
