If you're the Mother of a soon-to-be Bride or Groom, finding the right dress for the big day is a big deal. It can be intimidating and overwhelming for many people. Sometimes Moms put off shopping because they view their gown as less important, or they use excuses like "I want to lose weight" or "I'm waiting on the other Mother to decide". Fact is, you just need to know how to shop to make saying YES to your Mother's gown a pleasant experience. Here are the 5 best tips from Michelle's Bridal and Tuxedo: mothers_1 Cameron Blake 115607 (left) Cameron Blake 115611 (top right) Montage 115977 (bottom right)   1) Don't worry about every flaw: Good quality designer gowns, like the ones shown here from the award-winning designers at Mon Cheri Bridals are designed to hide all the things you hate. There are modern, NON-matronly styles out there. Many with beautiful necklines and sleeves to help you hide cleavage and arms, and ruched waistlines to help you hide your tummy. Most importantly, try to focus on the things you LOVE about your body and your style and concentrate less on the things you dislike. It will make for a much happier shopping experience. mothers_2 Montage 115962 (top left) Montage 115978 (bottom left) Montage 115976 (right)   2) Be Yourself: If your style is more simple, wear something simple. If you normally go for the bright, sparkly bling, then by all means, that's what everyone expects. But experience has shown that moms trying to wear the "just this one time" style are by most accounts...miserable. Find a style that flatters your body, but more importantly flatters your style and personality, and stay true to who you are. mothers_3 Cameron Blake 115619 (top left) Cameron Blake 115609 (bottom left) Montage 115967 (right)

3) Choose the right color: Have you ever heard the old saying "Wear beige and keep your mouth shut". Whether your the Mother of the Bride or Mother of the Groom, that old sentiment certainly doesn't translate to modern day moms. Try wearing a complimenting color to the wedding party. For example; if the bridesmaids are wearing royal blue, try navy. Girls in hot pink? Go for a lighter pink. And never be afraid to wear black. That's right...BLACK. It's always been known as a flattering color, and you'll match the gentlemen if they are wearing black tuxedos. Designer gowns, like those pictured here come to dozens of colors. So go ahead...choose whatever great color you want, even if it's beige.

4) Ask a professional for help: Bridal shoppes have professional stylists who know what looks good on you. Don't be embarrassed by your size or ashamed to tell them your flaws and fears. Trust them to help you pick the style that is right for you. They see people of all ages and sizes every day. Every mom looking for the perfect gown wants the "Taller, Skinner, and Younger-Looking" version of themselves. A professional stylist can not only give you honest opinions about what looks good on you, but they can help you decide on colors to compliment your son or daughter's wedding. Asking for help from a professional salon is important, you likely won't get good advice from a department store clerk with no experience.

5) Attend a Trunk Show: Are you tried of the poor selection you've found so far? Visit a Bridal Salon during a trunk show and experience an amazing selection. What is a TRUNK SHOW? It's an event especially designed for shopping and purchasing gowns. The Trunk Show designer of choice sends dozens (sometimes 100's) of additional gowns to the Bridal Salon for a limited engagement. During these shows you have an extraordinary selection of gowns not normally available in the store. Show gowns are usually only "on loan" to the store for you to try, so plan on needing to special order the size and color you want. Attending a show will usually bring lots of additional perks too, like trunk show exclusive pricing.
